-recycled method (or any) cleaner spray bottle
-add 1/2 C dish soap
-fill to top with vinegar
spray all over tub and shower. wait a few minutes. get naked. get in. use a cloth to wipe entire tub and shower clean. rinse and enjoy a clean shower. non-toxic and cheap. sparkle that rivals the most hyped up commercial cleaners.
just sleep
April 19, 2010 at 4:20 pm | keeping | 10 commentsgot rid of the head & foot boards to decrease dusting. just a single colored wall for an accent. wall ledges as “night stands”. no room for clutter there. children’s artwork that i love=sweet dreams.

paperless bills
April 5, 2010 at 7:20 pm | Uncategorized | No commenti love the feeling of knowing all the bills are paid on time. but i don’t love the paper clutter bills can generate. stop the paper bills and have them paid automatically if possible, or at least online. it feels just as great.
date night
April 2, 2010 at 10:09 pm | spirit | 2 commentsletting go of the unnecessary means there’s room in your life for what matters. like treating your husband to a date the night before he takes a big road test that he’s really anxious about.
on high ground
March 31, 2010 at 11:05 am | spirit | 7 commentswe have historic flooding in my neighborhood due to heavy rains these past few weeks. this has hit so close to home, literally just down the low end of my street. it is a blessing to be on high ground. my heart goes out to my neighbors who have been evacuated from their homes. i realize now tragedy can strike at any time. i wonder to myself, how would we deal with this if it were our home under water? i’m just not sure.
un-recipes
March 30, 2010 at 7:23 am | eating | 1 commenti’m not a fan of kitchen gadgets. but kitchen tools are a necessity. a slow cooker is indispensable in our kitchen. i can throw together an un-recipe and in the morning, fire up the crockpot, and have a delicious meal just about effortlessly in the evening. un-recipe: throw together whatever’s hanging around, add spices to taste, and enjoy.
tea time
March 25, 2010 at 10:01 pm | eating | 6 commentstea. no teapot or kettle or mug. just a mason jar, a teabag, a microwave, and five minutes. (three to heat the water and two to steep) minimalist tea ceremony.

buy secondhand
March 24, 2010 at 9:28 pm | keeping | 2 comments
so, since we got rid of the huge obtrusive toaster oven, we need something to heat up our kids’ waffles with. enter the secondhand toaster. half the price of the cheapest new model, looks like new, works like a charm. no packaging to throw away. nice and small, and fits neatly in the cabinet when not in use, with plenty of room to spare. buy secondhand. it’s good all around.
